Taxi Compteur
A mobile app connecting customers and taxi drivers, with a fare computed from the distance.
- 2modes: customer and driver
- ≈ 1 900lines of Dart
Context
Project built during my studies, around urban mobility.
Problem
Without a meter, fares are negotiated and customers cannot follow their driver’s arrival.
Objective
Request a ride, follow the driver and pay a fare based on the distance travelled.
Architecture
Flutter app backed by Firebase: authentication and a real-time database shared by customers and drivers.
- CustomerDestination search and ride request.
- Real timeFirebase Realtime Database relays the request.
- DriverAccept or decline, then a GPS-guided ride.
- PaymentDistance-based fare, Mobile Money payment.
Technologies
- Flutter
- Dart
- Firebase Auth
- Firebase Realtime Database
- flutter_map
- geolocator
Features
- Customer and driver modes
- Destination search on a map
- Ride request, acceptance or refusal
- GPS tracking and distance-based fare
- Mobile Money payment screen and ride history
Technical decisions
Real time without a server
Firebase Realtime Database syncs the ride between both phones with no backend to maintain.
Challenges
Location permissions
Service disabled or permission denied: the app explains it to the user instead of failing silently.
Result
Working prototype built as part of my studies.
Possible evolution
- Real Mobile Money integration
- Dedicated backend for pricing and history
